Annual Fund Director

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Annual Fund Director. The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • Planning and overseeing all aspects of a comprehensive Annual Giving program including the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors.
  • Recruiting and training an extensive volunteer structure to solicit annual gifts.
  • Managing and leading the Dana Fund team on initiatives such as reunion giving, leadership giving, direct mail and class agents.
  • Maintaining a familiarity with the trends in giving, current economic climate and new approaches to raising unrestricted support.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising, excellent organizational skills and be a dynamic, detailed oriented professional who is a self-starter and skilled with handling multiple tasks in a team-oriented environment. Other requirements include strong writing and public speaking skills, ability to interact effectively with varied constituencies, as well as a working knowledge of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge. Occasional travel and evening work is required. This is a full-time 12-month position reporting to the Director of Advancement.

Sous Chef

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Sous Chef.
 

The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • Preparing and presenting a variety of hot and cold foods following standardized department recipes in quantities planned in advance using a variety of preparation methods.
  • Determining daily kitchen work load, making daily job assignments, and overseeing the work of 15 full-time employees including all cooks and other kitchen personnel.
  • Evaluating finished products to ensure quality, as well as addressing sub-quality production and presentation by analyzing problems and implementing solutions in collaboration with the Director of Dining Services.
  • Working in all areas of the kitchen, as needed, but primarily in hot food production with a focus on serving the best quality product to our guests.
  • Utilizing inventory on a regular basis while communicating food and equipment needs to the Director of Dining Services in order to ensure all products and supplies are ordered and scheduled for timely delivery for production needs.
  • Researching, developing, testing, and adjusting recipes for all production areas.
  • Overall kitchen sanitation and food safety practices, keeping kitchen staff on task, and assigning side work and equipment maintenance duties to kitchen personnel.
  • Coordinating and expediting food preparation from the kitchen and action stations, while ensuring safe food handling and on-time production according to established procedures.
  • Planning and executing production and presentation for assigned meals, including designing and executing buffet presentation.
  • Overseeing kitchen operations in the absence of the Director of Dining Services, including ordering, menu duties, etc.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Dining Services to fulfill the culinary goals of the unit by facilitating the implementation of management initiatives in the kitchen and exceeding customer expectations.
Candidates should have: an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent combination of a completed culinary program and experience; 5-7 years of experience in planning and preparing hot and cold foods for service and coordinating the work of a culinary crew in a restaurant, hotel or institutional operation; expertise and/or high level of interest in various cuisines and cooking methods, quantity food preparation, batch cooking, and general culinary techniques and skills with demonstrated mastery of all cooking methods; practical experience leading a kitchen crew in a logical, efficient and fair manner; coaching and training culinary skills and techniques; designing plate and buffet presentations and developing recipes and menus; a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of kitchen sanitation and food safety practices and ability to enforce safe food handling guidelines; a willingness to be a team player who is held accountable for the quality of products produced by others, for meeting tight deadlines, and for contributing to the success of all kitchen and action station production. Candidates must read, speak and understand English and have a working knowledge of basic math, be customer-service sensitive, and have certification in ServSafe, CPR, and anti-choking procedures.  Academic community experience is preferred. Other requirements include strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent communication skills, an ability to multi-task and maintain details, and flexibility to manage multiple and, at times, competing priorities. Physical requirements include an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, as well as an ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
 
This is a 12-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of Dining Services.

Barn Staff Member

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for a full-time position in the Karen Stives '68 Equestrian Center. General responsibilities include: mucking, general horse handling, tacking up and barn maintenance. This position includes weekend hours. Candidates should have experience in horse care and a driver's license.

Swim Instructor – Part-time

Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Swim Instructor - Part Time. The individual in this position will be accountable for:

  • Providing individual and group swim lessons for children
This is a part-time position starting in September, approximately 12-15 hours/week. The individual will work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., subject to change as individual schedules are set. Hours may be adjusted. Candidates must have experience providing swim lessons to children between the ages of 3 and 8 as well as have current CPR certification or be willing to be certified on-site.

Junior Varsity and Middle School Tennis Assistant Coach – Part-time

Dana Hall School is seeking a junior varsity and middle school tennis assistant coach for the 2017 spring season (from March through May). This is a part-time position with responsibilities on Mondays starting at 3:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 2:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 2 p.m., and occasional Saturdays. Experience coaching girls at the youth, high school or college level is required and teaching experience is preferred.
