FAQs

When should I begin the application process to Dana Hall?

You may call the Admission Office at any time to request information about the school. Our campus tours and interviews begin on October 1 and continue through the end of January. You may call after September 1 to schedule a visit. Please have your calendar ready as we may not have your first choice available.

What times are available to schedule my visit?

The Admission Office schedules visits for tours and interviews for prospective students, Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Visit times are as follows: Monday, 8:15 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 8:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1:00 PM; Wednesday and Friday, 8:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 1 p.m..

How long will my visit to the Admission Office last?

Your visit to the Admission Office starts off with a student-guided tour that lasts approximately 45 minutes. After your tour, you will meet with an admission officer for an interview and then your parent(s) will meet with the same admission officer. The length of the interview may be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour or more depending on the number of questions you and your parents have for us. So, in total, expect your visit at Dana Hall to be around two hours. Please allow adequate time for travel delays on either end.

Will I see the horses on my tour?

Generally we do not take you to see the Dana Hall Riding Center on a regular tour due to time constraints of the students giving the tour. What we can do is schedule a meeting for you to see the stables and meet with the director of the Riding Center following your visit with the admission office. Please let us know when you are scheduling your visit so that we can set up the appointment with the Riding Center before you come.

Will I see the Music School on my tour?

Just like the Riding Center, there is not enough time to go to the Music School on a regular tour. You will, however, be shown the outside of the building and if you wish to meet with the Director of the Music School after your visit with the Admission Office, please let us know when scheduling your visit and we can set that up.

Do I have to complete the application before my visit?

No, you do not have to have your entire application completed before your visit, but you should complete and bring the Preliminary Applications Forms along with the application fee, so that we can start your file. Please refer to the Admission Timeline for our application deadlines.

I am an international student, what form of testing do you need from me?

We require the TOEFL of all international students. If you have taken the SSATs, you can send those scores in addition to the TOEFL, but it is not required for international students. Please note: We do not accept the SLEP test.

If I am applying to Dana Hall as a boarder, will I be able to spend a night in the dormitories?

We do not host overnight visits with Dana Hall boarding students. You will however be able to tour a student's room on your visit.
