| Middle School Athletics Policy |
|
• Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2–3:30 p.m. • Middle School athletes are expected to attend all games. Game days are on Wednesdays and Fridays; occasionally a game may be scheduled on another day of the week. If an athlete misses a game for reasons other than health, the result is an unexcused absence and the student will not be allowed to play in the next game. Repeated unexcused absences result in not fulfilling the sports requirement. • Athletes are expected to be in school all day in order to participate in a practice or a game that day. If a student misses more than one class for health reasons, she will not be allowed to participate in after-school athletics. • If a student is absent the day before a game, she will not be eligible to start that game. If an athlete misses part of the practice the day before a game, she will not be eligible to start that game. • If an athlete is unable to practice the day before a game due to an injury or sickness, she will not be able to play in the next game. • Good sportsmanship at athletic events is expected at all times from players and spectators. • All athletes must adhere to the Eastern Independent League Mission and the New England School Preparatory School Athletic Council Code of Ethics. • All Student Health forms and Authorization for Medical Treatment forms must be on file in order for students to participate in a sport. • All athletes must ride on the Dana Hall bus to and from games. However, an athlete may be granted special permission to be picked up from an away game by a designated driver if the athletic director and coach have a signed note from her parent before leaving for that game. • Athletes should make every attempt to stay and watch part of the second game if Dana Hall teams are scheduled back-to-back. • The team bench is reserved for members of the team only. The players who are not out on the field competing are expected to sit on the bench during the game.
