College Counseling

At Dana Hall, we help you transform the challenge of applying to college into an exciting opportunity to crystallize your interests and values, and find the right fit for you.

A springboard to your future

Just as a Dana Hall education is about educating the whole girl, so our approach to the college process is equally engaging and balanced. (Some of it can even be fun!) We encourage you to aim as high as you can, while focusing on "fit" - helping you identify a range of institutions where you can make the most of your distinctive potential and strengths.

The process

The process begins in earnest in your junior year, when you are assigned to a college counselor. Through individual meetings and an in-depth questionnaire about your interests, values and preferences, we help better you understand yourself - and in the process, help you tailor your list of schools. Many girls really enjoy this chance to think deeply about how they have grown at Dana Hall, and see it as an important step in preparing for college on its own.

Over the course of your 11th grade year, you will explore various colleges, on-line, on paper and in person, working to find those that offer the best fit for you. As a senior, you will work closely with your college counselor and your parents to decide where you will actually apply. As you draft and revise your application and essays, your college counselor will be a vital sounding board.
