Financial Aid and Scholarships

As the cost of a college education continues to rise, more and more families are looking for help to defray the total cost. Most colleges allocate a certain amount of funds for financial assistance in order to make it possible for a wide range of individuals to attend the institution. Each school has its own policy regarding the dissemination of its scholarship dollars, so it is important to investigate the financial aid programs available at each school. Most colleges award their funds through need-based financial aid programs, while some award funds based on merit.

The financial aid process can appear to be confusing and cumbersome. We urge you to become familiar with the procedures discussed here and with the requirements of your own schools. Most schools have very explicit instructions and welcome your calls should you have questions or feel confused. The College Counseling Office stands ready to help in this process, and we co-sponsor a Financial Aid Information Night in December with our BISCCA peer schools.
