American Universities – http://www.clas.ufl.edu/CLAS/american-universities.html offers links to home pages for hundreds of American universities. http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ provides links to both four-year and two-year American colleges and universities. University of Waterloo/Canadian Universities– http://www.uwaterloo.ca/canu/index.html contains home pages for Canadian universities. UCAS – http://www.ucas.com/ has significant information about applying to (and searching for) universities in the UK. Learn about Engineering – http://www.discoverengineering.org/ aboutengineers.asp is a good site if you are interested in learning about engineering and what colleges offer engineering programs. National Portfolio Day – http://www.portfolioday.net/comes to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston each fall. National Portfolio Days are educational events for young artists, held at host colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada. They bring together students and experienced college representatives, who review artwork, offer critique, discuss college plans, and share information about their schools. The National Association for College Admission Counseling – http://nacacnet.org is a professional association for counselors, and it offer some resources, tips, and guides in its "For Students" section. College application sites: The most common ways to apply to colleges are through the Common Application – http://www.commonapp.org/ (accepted by nearly 300 colleges and universities across the US, allowing students to complete one application which can be sent to any participating schools.) OR through specific schools’ websites.
Some colleges work with other “application vendors” such as: Xap – http://www.xap.com -- allows you to research schools, financial aid options, and career opportunities as you file your applications online. UCAS - http://www.ucas.com/apply/ is the site to visit to apply to schools in the UK. It also provides application and college search information. FastWeb - http://www.fastweb.com is one of the most comprehensive financial aid sites available. It provides information on scholarships as well as local and federal financial aid. It also offers a college search function. The College Board offers useful calculators to help assess estimated family contribution, loan payments, etc. The following sites help you gather information about loan opportunities: Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) – http://www.mefa.org is a self-financing, not-for-profit state authority, dedicated to keeping college education affordable for families. Nellie Mae – http://www.nelliemae.com is an excellent website for loan and scholarship information. Sallie Mae – http://www.salliemae.com is another valuable web site with scholarship and financial information from one of the largest loan organizations in the U.S. TERI Education Loans – http://www.teri.org provides links to the Higher Education Information Center (http://www.edinfo.org) and to financial aid and loan information.
