Health Center

The Health Center at Dana Hall supports the needs of both day and boarding students from grades six through 12.

A full-time nurse and part-time nurse practitioner staff the Health Center; the school physician is available for consultation two hours weekly and as needed. The Health Center also has a nine-bed infirmary.

All students who arrive at the Health Center are assessed and a plan of care is developed that is specific to their needs. The nurse initiates treatments for common health problems, which may include dispensing over-the-counter medications; the nurse practitioner is available to assess, diagnose, treat, or refer more complex health problems. The ability to initiate some treatments and/or have the student rest for a period of time may allow the student to feel improvement in her symptoms and return to classes. Day students requiring more than simple nursing care will be referred to their primary care doctor or nurse practitioner. The Dana Hall staff will contact the parent or guardian to inform them of their daughter's issues. The Health Center will provide more comprehensive care to boarding students.
