Community Celebrates Amor Caritas With Day of Service

On Sunday, May 13, Dana Hall students, faculty, staff, parents and alumnae will participate in the second annual Amor Caritas Day. Amor Caritas Day was created to honor Dana Hall’s long tradition of service by connecting constituents through community projects around the world.

DSC 0303In 2011, with the help of City Year, more than 200 Dana Hall community members in the Boston area renovated the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester. This year the Dana community will celebrate the day by volunteering at Cradles to Crayons in Brighton. Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit that provides, free of charge, disadvantaged children with the essential items that all kids need in order to flourish. Amor Caritas Day volunteers will help sort various items including toys and clothes. Dana Hall also is hosting an ongoing clothing drive for Cradles to Crayons. Clothing donations can be dropped off in the Middle or Upper School.

In addition to the Boston project, Dana Hall alumnae have organized their own Amor Caritas Day projects in their cities and towns. Projects in New Jersey and New York, will be led by alumnae.

Volunteers for the Cradles to Crayons project must register for Amor Caritas Day by Tuesday, May 7. There is no cost to participate. You can register for or sponsor Amor Caritas Day here.
