Dana Hall Department Chair Earns Unsung Heroine Award

On May 14, the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) will host its fifth annual Unsung Heroine Celebration at the Massachusetts State House. Representing the town of Wellesley, Dana Hall’s Social Science Department Chair Alexandra Siemon will join 286 women from all over the state of Massachusetts to be honored as an unsung heroine.  The event celebrates women who are quietly, without recognition, making their communities a better place.

“She is a highly respected teacher because she is always challenging her students to push themselves to ask the hard questions and to think more critically,” Panahi said.

The MCSW, which called for nominations from every city and town in Massachusetts, honors these women not because they make headlines but because they make a difference. Siemon is no exception.
A State House ceremony will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 14 to recognize this year’s Unsung Heroines. The event is open to the public.
Attorney General Martha Coakley will deliver the keynote address.
