At the start of a new school year the Dana campus will be home to many new faces, not only those of incoming students, but also of faculty and staff. These 10 new faculty members and 16 new staff members bring their experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm as the entire faculty and staff prepares for a new academic year. Welcome aboard!
Kim Betz joins the Middle School as a 6th grade English and Math teacher. She comes from the Stanwich School in Greenwich, Conn. She earned her bachelor's degree from Colby College and her master's degree from Manhattanville College. Kelly Droney joined the Dana Hall faculty as the Middle School Spanish teacher. She earned both a B.A. and a B.S. from George Washington University, double majoring in Spanish Language and Literature and Biological Anthropology. Devon Fitchett came to Dana Hall in the middle of last year. She has since developed the dance program, teaching all types of dance including tap, hip hop, jazz and ballet. Before coming to Dana she was a member of the Ben Munisteri Dance Project in New York City. She graduated from Bates College in 2003. Conor Hanover joins the Upper School Social Studies Department and will be teaching Russian Studies and Western Civilization. Conor comes to Dana from the Brooks School. He earned his undergraduate degree in history at Clark University and his M.A. and M.Ed from Columbia University. Bryce Jones also joins the Upper School Social Studies department. He will be teaching U.S. History, African Studies, and Political Science. Bryce comes to Dana Hall from Winsor Academy. He earned his B.A. in History from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and his M.A. in History from Providence College. Karen Keely will teach Upper School English, Public Speaking, and Social Studies courses. She joins the Dana faculty with a wealth of experience and degrees. She earned her B.A. from The College of William and Mary, went on to complete her master's at the University of Minnesota, and received her Ph.D from UCLA. Meg Perkins comes to Dana Hall from Tabor Academy in Marion where she taught English. Meg earned her B.A. from the University of New Hampshire and just recently completed a master's program at the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College. Emily Roos worked as an independent musician for several years teaching lessons at her home. This year, Emily takes on the role of director of the Middle School Tone Chimes Choir. Her experience includes three years as the music director at Concord Middle School and three years as the director of the Arlington Children's Theater. Emily also worked as a Concord summer arts teacher for 12 years. She earned her B.A. in Music from Indiana University in 1987. Kera Vanderspek '03 is entering her third year as a house assistant, but joins the Upper School English department this year as an intern. She will be teaching Lit Comp II and 9th grade English. She recently graduated from Wellesley College and did her student teaching in Weston. Dao Wu joins the language department as the new Mandarin teacher. Dao earned her B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature in China, and she just completed her master's degree at Boston College, studying developmental educational psychology. Staff: Liz Adams has made her way up the hill. After two years of teaching English in the Upper School, Liz decided it was time to try something different. She joins the Admission office as an assistant director of admission. Liz recently earned her Master of Arts degree from the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College Adrienne Brown '04, the new house assistant in Wheeler, is currently working toward her degree in History, Women's Studies and Sociology at Regis College. Brenda Dowdell started at Dana in November 2006 as the office manager/receptionist in the Admission office. Before coming to Dana she was working at a non-profit organization in the communications/marketing department. Caitlin Kattany '00 came back to her alma mater to join the Development office in January 2007 after working at Suffolk University. After an impressive five months, Caitlin was promoted to the assistant director of Annual Giving. She earned her bachelor's degree from St. Anselm College. Sarah Kelly joins the Academic office as the new registrar/academic assistant. Sarah comes to Dana Hall from the Jewish Community Day School. She is working toward her degree in IT at UMASS Lowell. Linda Lull comes to the Development office as the new database manager. Prior to taking the position at Dana, Linda worked as a fundraising software consultant. She earned her bachelor's degree from Colby College. Eileen Mahoney began her career at Dana Hall in January 2007, taking a position as the assistant to the director of the Middle School. Prior to working at Dana she was employed for 12 years as the assistant to the president at Bentley College. Katie Mazurek joined the Dana Hall Development office as the communications assistant in November 2006. Katie came to Dana after having worked for a daily newspaper for almost a year. She graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from St. Michael's College in 2005. Kari McPartland P09 was an active Dana Hall parent volunteer before deciding to take on the full-time special events assistant position in the Development office. Kari served as chair of the Dana Hall golf committee, was a member of the athletic, health and wellness committee and a member of Dana's International Host Program. She earned her bachelor's degree at Bucknell University and her master's at Lesley University. Laura Morgon '02 makes a return to the Dana Hall Admission office as an Assistant Director of Admission. While in college, Laura worked in the Admission office as a summer intern. She completed her bachelor's degree in Critical Social Thought from Mount Holyoke College. Joanna Murphy graduated from Loyola College in May with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Joanna takes on the role of house assistant in Johnson B and will be taking classes working toward her master's. Katie Schofield joins the Development office as the director of Annual Giving. Katie worked at the Brooks School as the co-director of the Brooks Fund before coming to Dana. She earned her bachelor's degree from Keene State College. Wendy Secor is the new director of Admission and Financial Aid. Some may remember Wendy from the College Counseling office, where she served as the assistant director from 2000-2002. Prior to working at Dana, Wendy was the associate director of Admission at Wellesley College from 1992-2000. She earned her B.A. from Lake Forest College and a M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University. Beth Sharp comes to Dana Hall as the associate director of Development from Independent Thinking, an independent school job-placement firm. Beth started her career in the Development office at Connecticut College. She also spent some time in working in the Admission office at the Madeira School. She earned her M.S.W. from Smith College. Erin Welch joins the Development office as the assistant to Alumnae Relations and Annual Giving. Erin comes to Dana Hall from the Admission office at Northeastern University. She received her bachelor's degree in Sociology/Anthropology from St. Michael's College. Caitlyn Zeller is taking on many roles as she begins her career at Dana. She will work as a house assistant in Johnston A, and also, as the Student Affairs intern. Originally from the Boston area, Caitlyn graduated from Boston Latin. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. |
