In 1921, Dana Hall's junior class performed a play called Revels. Little did they know it would come to be Dana Hall's oldest and strongest tradition. On Wednesday, December 19, the Dana community gathered for the 83rd time to celebrate the winter solstice, the holidays, and the impending winter break.
Excitement mounted early in the day as the faculty and staff took to the stage at Morning Meeting to serenade students with holiday tunes on kazoos. As the three o'clock hour neared, classrooms cleared out, lockers were emptied, and students rushed over to Bardwell Auditorium to see what the Class of 2009 had in store.
The Royal Court was entertained along with the audience by acrobats, sword dancers, and the Revels Minstrels. In true Revels fashion, the junior class put their own spin on the solstice play, incorporating modern day music, a Guitar Hero scene, and a spoof on nutrition at Dana.
Bardwell erupted in boisterous cheers as the actresses took their bows. For the 83rd time, Revels provided the Dana community with a time for singing, dancing, laughter, and a joyous way to ring in the coming New Year.
