| Rick Fox presents "Drawings" at Dana Hall Art Gallery |
|
Rick Fox currently lives and works in Somerville, Mass. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his Master of Fine Arts at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Fox was the recipient of the NEA/William James Foundation Grant, which he used to set up an art program at the federal prison in Ayer, Mass. He also has earned grants from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation for painting. The collection of drawings that will be displayed at the Dana Hall Gallery has been heavily influenced by Fox's night-time dreams and memories. "It is not my intent to illustrate or document my dreams/memories," Fox said of his work. "Instead, I use those images that are generated from a dream or feeling that revisit me more often than others. The images become elements of an intuitive vocabulary. They feel like ‘a good excuse' to make a drawing and to playfully explore what goes into making a picture." He is currently represented by The Works Gallery, Wellfleet, Mass. The Dana Hall Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Classroom Building. The Gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed during weekends and school holidays.
