Dana Records School Song

Each year, Dana Hall Director of Choral Music David Coleman writes an original song for the entire school community to sing at the Opening Convocation that marks the start of the new academic year. In keeping with this tradition, students and faculty assembled inside a steamy Bardwell Auditorium on August 31, 2010 to learn and sing “Convocation Song 2010.” It was intended to be a “one time only” performance.

The song was a big hit, and Coleman, with the support of Head of School Caroline Erisman, realized there was an opportunity to make musical history: the first Dana Hall School music video. On October 6, all students and faculty headed back into the “studio” (also known as Waldo Auditorium) to make a official recording of “Convocation Song 2010,” this time with video cameras rolling and technical assistance from the School of Music’s Dave Jamrog.
