Dana Hall School, along with students from Roxbury Latin School, will present The Madwoman of Chaillot at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 in Bardwell Auditorium. Admission is free for Dana Hall students and staff and $10 for members of the community.
The play is about an eccentric woman who, with her mad friends and artistic followers, attempts to save Paris from politicians and businessmen who intend to destroy the city in their pursuit of oil and money. “While the play was written in the 1940s, it is scarily current in its concern about the greed of businessmen who have little regard for the investor or the environment,” said Director and Performing Arts Department Head Kevin Groppe. “The play is a satisfying tale of how strong women and the artistic community are able to take a stand against forces that threaten the individual and the health of world. The story is told in a fun way with remarkable mad characters and unique individuals; it is a theatrical circus with juggling, dancing and music. The students are having a ball with this wild and relevant fable.” |

The Madwoman of Chaillot, a poetic, comic fable written by the French playwright Jean Giraudoux, features 23 actresses, four actors and two student stage managers.
