Our Faculty

Dana Hall teachers pair a passionate knowledge of their subject with a sensitive awareness of each girl's learning style. They expect you to dive in deeply, think creatively and seek out inspiring challenges - just as they do themselves.

With 13 students in a typical Upper School class, faculty members can take the time to know you personally and help you achieve your highest potential. You will gain the confidence to master unfamiliar subjects, wrestle with complex ideas and make the case for your own point of view.

Teachers, leaders, mentors and friends

Some schools expect faculty members to teach, coach and supervise a dorm; Dana teachers have the freedom to pour all their energies into teaching and mentorship. About a quarter of our teachers make their homes on the campus, and all of them serve as advisors to individual students, meeting their advisees twice a week for group meetings, and at least once a week individually. Dana Hall faculty members also lead a range of activities outside of class, from advising student government to chaperoning weekend trips to the Museum of Fine Arts and other area places of interest.

Stretching themselves

Continually learning and stretching their own understanding, our teachers make the most of our extensive professional development, summer travel and sabbatical programs. Fueled by fresh knowledge and new perspectives, their classrooms blaze with passionate debate and unbounded curiosity.
