Dear Dana Hall Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! The girls have returned to their studies and busy lives again. Fortunately, we have many ways to engage with the Dana Hall community this winter. The big event is the “Enchanted Evening” on February 25th. Given all the creativity and talent going into it, the party promises to be great fun and to raise funds for the development of our daughters’ leadership capabilities.
Big thanks to many of you - volunteers, bakers and donors - who helped make the Dana “Halliday” boutique faculty/staff appreciation event such a smashing success. The faculty and staff were thrilled with the festive lunch party, chair massages, and take home boxes of treats. One faculty member remarked, “Thank you so much for yesterday’s boutique event. It was truly one of the loveliest appreciation events I’ve been to, in the four different schools I’ve worked at!” Kudos to Lisa Altman, Karen Grip, and Kari McPartland!
There continue to be many ways for parents to be involved in the community. Looking ahead to the Spring we are developing Dana’s first forum on women’s leadership. We are very excited about the fun and inspiring day we will offer the Dana community. This will be an interactive and engaging opportunity to meet women and girls affiliated with Dana – students, alumnae, faculty and parents! For example, did you know that Dana parent Kelly Benkert P15, 17 was a Black Hawk helicopter pilot leading 70 pilots? She encourages us all to continue to write our own stories and will be available to inspire and advise on April 21.
Major winter events for parents:
Feb. 1 – PA meeting – Learn about Dana’s approach to teacher hiring and development, 8 a.m. Beveridge February 25 - An Enchanted Evening to Grow Our Girls, 6:30 p.m. The Shipley Center
Please let me know how you would like to be involved in our daughters school community.
Warm regards, Amy Brakeman P12, 15 Parents’ Association Chair
