Facilities
The Dana Hall School Riding Center features a large barn area complete with 45 stalls. Construction of the brand new barn was completed in the Fall 2007. The Riding Center boasts two indoor arenas, and a large outdoor ring. The more expansive of the two indoors, the Larson Arena, is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, new jumps, mirrors and dust-free footing. The facility is also includes 11 turnout paddocks, four of which are on grass.
Boarding
Dana Hall School students are welcome to board their horses at the Riding Center. Every effort is made to accommodate the boarding needs of our students. Our excellent staff of equine professionals provides continuous care ensuring the safety and well being of our horses and our riders at all times. Veterinary and blacksmith care are coordinated by the Riding Center's Barn Manager, ensuring personalized care to meet the individual needs of each horse.
Lessons
There are a variety of lesson program options available to Dana Hall students. Students are taught in private, semi-private and group lessons, based on the needs of each rider and her schedule and ability level. Students may elect to take riding for physical education credit that involves lessons and a comprehensive lecture series. The Riding Center staff makes a concerted effort to accommodate each student's lesson requirements, so that riding may be incorporated into even the busiest academic schedule.
Competition
Dana Hall's 30-member interscholastic equestrian team competes throughout the year with other schools at the varsity level. Riders accumulate points both individually and as a team towards a national competition held in the spring. Dana Hall has a strong presence in the IEA Zone I, with many team members qualified to participate in the Zone and National Finals each year. Dana Hall is proud to be the home of the 2008 National Champion Middle School Team.
Students also have opportunities to compete at both local and "A" rated shows on the East Coast and the Ocala Florida circuit in the winter. The Riding Center is represented regularly with riders qualifying and showing at the USEF Pony Finals and regional and national equitation finals, including the prestigious fall indoor horse shows.
