Welcome to the Dana Hall School of Music!
For more than 50 years, The Dana Hall School of Music has been providing high quality music instruction to the greater Boston area. The School of Music provides a welcoming environment for all ages and backgrounds through individual lessons, ensembles, group classes, workshops and performances. Special opportunities for children under five are available through our Suzuki violin and piano program as well as other age-appropriate music classes. We welcome and support adult students by offering flexibly scheduled lessons as well as adult-only chamber ensembles, classes and performing opportunities.
Music Recitals, Workshops and Special Events
As a member of the Dana Hall School of Music, students and families receive access to a number of free and/or low cost opportunities throughout each semester. The music school hosts at least two (2) student recitals per month. Recitals take place in Beveridge Hall on the Dana Hall campus. Although recital participation is optional, we encourage all of our students to attend and participate whenever possible. Other free music events include audition workshops, master classes, performances and family events.
We encourage and welcome everyone to play in Student Recitals regardless of level, instrument and genre. Please remember that you must check with your teacher first to make sure that you are prepared for the recital.

Reminder: End of Spring Term Please note that we are nearing the end of our Spring Term for community music lessons. For those students whose lessons are on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, lessons finish the week of May 28th. The following week is a make up week that can be used by faculty if they have missed any lessons. (As always, please remember that faculty are NOT obligated to make up student absences although, if given enough warning and if possible, faculty will make a good faith effort to do so.)
For students whose lessons are on Monday, the term ends on Monday, June 10. This is because so many holidays fall on a Monday (including Memorial Day) the 16-week term needs to run longer.
Summer Lessons Our flexible schedule of summer lessons will begin the second week of June. New and returning are students are welcome to sign up for any number of lessons (from 1 to as many as you would like). Additionally, we are offering a special package deal of 8 lessons. Please note that lessons are scheduled around the mutual availability of teachers and students between June and August. Please view the registration form to sign up. Registrations will be accepted through July.
Summer is Around the Corner The spring session for community music lesson ended the last week of May. The first week of June is designated for make up lessons.
As always, we are offering a flexible summer schedule of lessons. We will offer an eight lesson package that can be scheduled any time between June and August. We will also offer our popular "ala carte" lesson plan which allows to students to sign up for as few as one lesson and as many as you choose.
We will also be offering special workshops, groups and ensemble coachings. Summer information will be available in early May.
