Helpful tips and wise words

When I got here, I had never taken a test besides the SSAT. Within a month, we had a big math test. I knew the formulas, so I was positive it would be no big deal. When I got my test back, I was mortified! My mom suggested that I see my teacher. She gave me helpful test-taking tips, and told me that my grade did not reflect my knowledge; those words are something I will always keep with me.

Finding friends in class

The first day of school, our teacher assigned us partners for a game. I didn't know anything about my partner, not even her name. But we introduced ourselves, and after awhile, we were laughing and talking like we had known each other for a long time. Before I knew it, we were best friends!
