Boarding Life

Dana Hall's boarding program provides a nurturing, diverse environment enabling young women to develop their independence. Guided and supported by the dormitory faculty, students are expected to uphold values such as respect for others, integrity, multicultural sensitivity and personal responsibility.

boardinglifeforweb The boarding program at Dana Hall prepares young women for adulthood as they learn the skills necessary for continued growth and development of character. All Upper School students (grades nine through 12) have the opportunity to take advantage of the boarding program. While the day students commute from the surrounding communities, boarders come from not only from New England, but also from across the country and around the world.

Students live in one of six dormitories on campus, which are supervised by house directors, house assistants, and student proctors. To strengthen the community, all day students and faculty members have a dorm affiliation. The affiliate program brings together boarders and day students along with the faculty for overnights, cookouts, outings into Boston, and late night snacks.

Social opportunities are an important aspect of Upper School life as well. Students work with the Director of Residential Life to create a variety a weekend activities to be enjoyed by boarders and day students alike. Opportunities range from movies, concerts, plays, dances on campus, and sporting events in Boston, to weekend trips skiing or to New York City. There are a number of independent boys' schools in the area with which we collaborate on social events, as well as community service projects and drama productions.
