For 15- to 17-year-old boys and girls, the Dana Hall Summer Camp offers a comprehensive Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) program. This program is designed to teach motivated adolescents the skills necessary to assume leadership roles as counselors in the future.
The six-week program combines classroom work, individual skill development, team building activities, activity observation, and interactive experiences with campers, all under the direct supervision of the C.I.T. Program Director. C.I.T.s also spend time learning child development theory, methods of problem solving, and basic counselor skills. Effective and constructive feedback is an integral part of the program, and the C.I.T. Program Director works closely with instructors and counselors to provide daily feedback to the participants. C.I.T.s participate in a number of activities as a group, whether rock climbing at Quincy Quarry or playing a round of golf with the golf instructor. These experiences help C.I.T.s improve their own individual skills and their ability to teach new skills to campers.
The tuition for the C.I.T. Program is $1,000 for six weeks (lunch included). Enrollment is limited. If interested, please submit the application with all required documents to Guida Estrela. All applications will be reviewed by the C.I.T. Program Director.
