Dana Hall Summer Camp

1july3_092.jpg"Either through sports or community leagues, most children are familiar with the typical team sport experience. Many boys and girls play multiple sports throughout the school year, and may find themselves looking for new experiences or different challenges during the summer – activities that are unique, refreshing, and a break from their regular routine." –Rick Echlov, Director of Summer Programs

The program at the Dana Hall Summer Camp is anything but routine. Our experienced educators and coaches believe that children should be exposed to a wide variety of sports at an early age, so they are able to make informed choices as they get older. Campers at the Dana Hall Summer Camp have the chance to try an assortment of unique athletic activities, including introductory scuba and snorkeling, rock climbing, fencing, sports fitness/wellness, golf, and leadership initiatives.

All campers will have a one-hour scuba/snorkeling class each morning along with two or three activities before lunch. These activities will range from introductory to advanced instruction dependng on campers' abilities. After lunch, each camper will choose an activity in which he or she would like to learn more intermediate and advanced skills.

Several of the activities feature off-site excursions for further instruction. Campers participating in golf will travel to a nearby course to work on skills. They also will play a round of golf each week at a golf club. East Coast Divers, Inc. will accompany the entire camp to Cape Cod during the second week of each session to explore the waters of Sandwich, Mass. Rock climbers will travel to the Hammond Pond Park outdoor climbing area once a week.

Through each activity, campers will gain self-confidence, learn leadership skills, understand the importance of fitness and safety, take on new challenges – and have lots of fun!
