The Dana Hall Summer Camp is headquartered in the Shipley Center at Dana Hall School.
Opened in Fall 2005, this state-of-the-art facility is air-conditioned and features a gymnasium, fitness center, dance and fencing studios, squash courts, climbing wall and aquatics center. Campers also will have access to Dana Hall’s outdoor playing fields. A well-balanced lunch will be served in Dana Hall’s Dining Center.
The Shipley Center's gymnasium features an advanced flooring system and two NCAA regulation-size basketball courts. A three-lane suspended indoor track provides additional space for activities. Just across the hall, Dana Hall's Fitness Center features state-of-the-art LifeTime Fitness equipment. The room is fitted with a sports-impact floor for a safe workout.
The 3,050-square foot fencing studio also is an invaluable tool for beginner and advanced fencers alike. It is equipped with six built-in fencing strips, allowing for simultaneous competitions, a cushioned shock-absorbent maple athletic floor, and wall mirrors to help fencers practice their movements, positions, and postures.
For rock climbing, the facility's 465-square foot, 34-foot high custom-designed climbing wall is a terrific space to learn the basics of climbing or to challenge even the most experienced climbers. The wall has different sized hand holds to allow for variant climbing styles and skills.
In addition, the Shipley Center boasts an impressive 6,589-square foot Aquatic Center featuring a stunning 25-yard, six-lane pool designed for recreational and competitive swimming. |
