Dana Hall does not offer an ESL or ELL program. However, if a student needs further improvement in English, they may take additional English classes instead of studying new languages during their first year.
Does Dana Hall issue an I-20 for day students?
No, international students who need an I-20 to apply for an F-1 Visa must be boarding students at Dana Hall.
Do international students still need to take the SSAT?
Yes, all students applying to Dana Hall must submit the SSAT, ISEE, or an equivalent exam offered by their current school or state. Therefore, international students, in addition to the TOEFL or Duolingo exam, must also submit the SSAT, ISEE, or another equivalent exam.
What is the average TOEFL score for international applicants?
We do not have a minimum TOEFL score, but most students admitted to grade 9 achieve a TOEFL score of 100 or above.
Can the TOEFL exam be waived for an international student who has studied in the U.S.?
For international applicants who have completed their schooling outside the U.S., the TOEFL (or Duolingo) is still required. However, depending on the student's English proficiency, the requirement for the English proficiency test may be waived based on the interviewer’s decision after the interview.
Are international students eligible to receive financial aid?
Although priority is given to U.S. Citizens, we do provide financial aid to international students on a limited basis. Please visit our financial aid page for more information about our policies and how to apply.
