  • Application Requirements

All applicants who are not US citizens are considered international applicants. Green Card holders and US permanent residents who have spent most of their life outside of the United States are also considered international students. Dana Hall only provides I-20 forms to students in grades 9-12. Please note that our boarding program begins in grade 9. Applicants to grades 5-8 must be US Citizens or US permanent residents, living locally with an immediate family member.

Dana Hall does not accept mid-year applications. Thus, all new students begin in the fall semester.

Dana Hall applicants must create a Ravenna HUB account and follow the steps for submitting required materials. You will be able track your application status, register for events, and view your decision in Ravenna. Dana Hall will accept materials from the Standard Application Online, but applicants must have a Ravenna account and must complete Dana Hall's Application form through Ravenna.

BEFORE scheduling your interview, make sure you have created your Ravenna account and submitted your application form and fee.
  • English Language Requirements

Dana Hall does not offer an ESL program and therefore requires students to be highly proficient in speaking, listening, writing and reading the English language. All international applicants who do not speak English as a first language must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Most students admitted to grade 9 achieve a TOEFL (iBT version) score of 90 or above. Dana Hall considers all application materials, in addition to testing, in order to best determine an applicant’s potential fit at Dana Hall.
  • Testing Requirements

Applicants to grades 9-11 who are non-US citizens or dual citizens, whose native language is not English, are required to take the TOEFL. For the 2021-2022 admission season, Dana Hall will not require the SSAT. Students may still choose to submit SSAT scores.

Score reports for both tests must be sent directly from ETS and SSAT using our school code: 7507 for TOEFL and 2728 for SSAT. We cannot accept score reports sent by consultants, schools or families.  If you have difficulty scheduling this test, please contact the Admission Office.

Dana Hall does not accept the SLEP test or TOEFL Junior test.

  • F-1 Visa and Immigration Process

Dana Hall provides I-20 Forms to international boarding students in grades 9-12. In order for a student to receive an I-20 Form and apply for an F-1 Visa, a student must first apply, be admitted, and enroll at Dana Hall.

According to United States regulations, families requesting an I-20 Form must also provide the School with financial certification and proof of the applicant’s citizenship before creating an I-20 Form. Dana Hall does not offer financial aid to international students. Financial aid applicants must be United States citizens paying United States taxes.
  • Emergency Guardian Policy

All enrolled boarding students are required to have an Emergency Guardian in the event of student illness (including COVID-19), quarantine requirements, campus closure, or other emergency. The guardian is required to assume custody of their student within 12 hours of school communication.

"Dana offers many great opportunities including a trip to South Africa every other year. I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be visiting South Africa, let alone with some of my closest friends. The trip enabled us to interact with real South Africans as they experienced their real lives, an opportunity I could never have had as a tourist."
