Standard Application Online (SAO) Instructions

While Dana Hall welcomes applicants to use the SAO, you must create a Ravenna account and submit Dana Hall's Student and Family Profile form within Ravenna. Keep in mind that you will need a Ravenna account to register for admission events, schedule your interview, and view your admission decision on March 10.

Create Ravenna Account

1. Go to Ravenna and click on "Create an Account."

2. Enter parent/guardian name and parent/guardian email address.

3. Ravenna will send a verification email. Click on the verification link in the email from Ravenna.

4. Follow the link in the email sent from Ravenna and complete your Ravenna profile. Please complete all of the data fields accurately and thoroughly.

5. Once your account is set up, you will be sent directly to Dana Hall's school profile where you should select "Apply."

6. In the Dana Hall application steps, click on the link to the "Student and Family Profile." To submit the form, you will need to contact the Admission Office (781-489-1331 or admission@danahall.org) to request a fee waiver.

Schedule Interview

An interview is a required step in the application process. You must have a Ravenna account and have started your Dana Hall application in Ravenna in order to schedule your interview.

Our campus visit includes a tour of the campus with a current student, a one-on-one interview between the applicant and admission counselor, as well as time for parents/guardians to speak with an admission counselor. Additionally, applicants will complete a writing exercise on the day of their interview. The entire visit will last approximately two hours. We offer virtual interviews for those families unable to visit campus. Virtual tours are scheduled separately from virtual interviews, and though not required, are encouraged.  

Applications are only considered complete after all application materials are received and an interview is completed.

TOEFL (Non-native English Speakers)

Dana Hall does not offer an ESL program and therefore requires students to be highly proficient in speaking, listening, writing and reading the English language. All applicants who do not speak English as a first language are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Please arrange to have scores sent directly to Dana Hall from ETS by January 15, 2023. Designate Dana Hall School as an official score report recipient by using the following testing code: 7507. We will not accept score reports sent by consultants, schools, or families.

ISEE/SSAT Testing (Optional)

Dana Hall School recognizes that the global pandemic has created varied academic experiences in recent years and impacted student learning to varying degrees. As a result, Dana Hall will continue to be test-optional for the 2022-2023 admission season.

Dana Hall stands behind the belief that testing alone is not a determining factor for admission, and we will continue to practice a holistic and context-based evaluation process that considers student performance and success relative to their individual circumstances.

If an applicant feels as though standardized test results (ISEE, SSAT, or state-based exams) represent them and support their academic profile, they are welcome to submit scores. To submit scores, designate Dana Hall School as an official score report recipient by using the following testing codes: 222275 (ISEE), 2728 (SSAT). Dana Hall must receive scores by January 15.

Financial Aid (Need-based)

All financial aid at Dana Hall is need-based. Dana Hall uses School and Student Services (SSS) as it's financial aid platform. To begin your financial aid application, create an account in SSS and complete the Parent Financial Statement (PFS).

The PFS is the cornerstone of Dana Hall's financial aid application process. By submitting the PFS, you're granting SSS permission to analyze your financial information. Using their standard methodology, they estimate the amount your family can contribute to school expenses and forward that estimate to Dana Hall.

The financial need assessment used by Dana Hall School is based on the United States income taxation and cost of living systems. As a result, Dana Hall is only able to consider applicants for financial aid if the applicant is a US citizen or permanent resident holding a green card and if all parents file US income taxes.

Applicant Deadline:

Applicants who schedule their interview and submit their applications by January 15 will receive decision notifications on March 10. Late applicants will be considered on a rolling admission basis after April 10, depending on space availability.

Application Fee:

SAO applicants pay their application fee in the SAO family portal and use a waiver code to submit the Student and Family Profile in Ravenna.

When you're ready to submit the Student and Family Profile form in Ravenna, contact the Admission Office to request your waiver code. SAO application fee waiver requests are granted based on need.
