Cabaret
Cabaret is a show that all the ninth graders put together for the whole school. Everyone contributes to the show in different ways: performing, decorating, doing tech and so on. However, all students sing together two traditional songs and two songs chosen as a grade. Throughout Cabaret, I got to know my classmates better and felt that the whole class had come together. Although the rehearsals were long, the efforts we put in really turned out to be something valuable and memorable.
Museum of Fine Arts project
The Museum of Fine Arts project in Western Civilization and Literature and Composition 1 was my favorite project. All the ninth grade students took a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston while we were learning about Ancient Greece and reading two different Greek tragedies. We examined different artifacts, and then wrote about our analysis and experience. The MFA project was so intriguing to me because it incorporated knowledge learned in and outside of the classroom. I was able to see history come to life and actually apply what I learned into real life.
Western Civilization
In Western Civilization, I have not only learned about history itself, but also the analytical and critical thinking skills, which I am able to apply to my everyday life. It is largely discussion based, and so I get to hear about various distinctive opinions. I also love researching, reading and examining different historical sources, and West Civilization definitely gives me the opportunity to do that to the fullest.
