IEA/AEL Bootcamp

IEA/AEL Bootcamp is designed to give riders an opportunity to bounce back into an IEA/AEL mindset before the season kicks off, similar to a preseason/tryouts week for other varsity sports.

Riders will gain experience on a variety of level-appropriate mounts with a focus on IEA and AEL competition format. Campers will have one mounted lesson each day with horse changes during each lesson. Video review after the lesson will help riders assess strengths and identify weaknesses.

We will practice flat and jumping tests commonly used during IEA and AEL competitions and learn tools and strategies to be successful in these particular shows. Campers will learn how to watch horses warm up for competition with a critical eye, how to walk courses and count strides between jumps, and how to present as a winner in the show ring.

Who:

4th-12th graders who can walk, trot, and canter comfortably in a group setting on an unfamiliar horse. Current IEA/AEL riders as well as riders considering team riding in the upcoming season are welcome to apply.

When:

August 12-15, 2024, 8:30 a.m. -1 p.m.

What to bring:

Riding boots (paddock or tall boots), riding pants, ASTM-approved helmet, water bottle, snack, lunch

Friday showcase:

Family and friends are invited to watch our final riding session on Friday featuring a simulation of an IEA/AEL Finals competition with a guest judge.
