In January 2013, Governor Patrick signed into law a bill expanded the background checks on public and private schools in Massachusetts, as well as early education programs.
While a CORI report checks for Massachusetts criminal history, fingerprints allow a national check, as well as a check for Federal charges. Effective July 1, 2013, all school employees and on-campus spouses and children over the age of 18 are required to submit fingerprints for the national criminal background check. Tutors and volunteers will also be required to be fingerprinted. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
