Fencing

Head Coach: Jane Carter

Dana Hall's Fencing Team has a long and storied tradition at the School, with teams competing against other schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. Dana Hall has won State Championships at the individual, squad and team level, which is impressive considering most of the students learn fencing for the first time at Dana Hall. Dana Hall has one team, where students in grades 5-12 all train together. The more experienced fencers help the new fencers, and all fencers get to have at least one competitive bout each season.

The team philosophy is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages learning, creativity, and a “one team” culture.  All teammates are encouraged to support and help each other.

We encourage teamwork, positive cheering, and competition with other schools, not with each other.  Our students have competed outside of the Dana Hall, and have excelled at the national and collegiate level.  Recent graduates have gone on to fence for Columbia, Yale, Penn, Brandeis and Vassar.
