This summer Dana Hall School will welcome Becky Kimball as the new Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness. Currently the Butler Director of Sport Performance and Fitness and Assistant Professor of the Practice at Wellesley College, Kimball is passionate about athletics and committed to cultivating an innovative and diverse student-athlete experience. She will officially start in the role on July 1.
“Becky’s experience as a director, faculty member and coach at the Division I and Division III collegiate levels will be an asset when she assumes this leadership position in this mission-critical area of Dana Hall’s program,” said Head of School Katherine Bradley. “She draws a direct line from athletic opportunities to teaching the lessons of character, teamwork, sportsmanship, integrity and confidence, and her commitment to excellence in health and wellness education will serve our students and faculty well.”
At Wellesley College, Kimball has overseen the rapid growth of a sports performance program that includes strength and conditioning for Wellesley’s 13 NCAA Division III varsity programs as well as campus-wide fitness and wellness initiatives.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Dana Hall community as the Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness. I look forward to continuing the long-standing commitment to these three areas of school life, as well as to bringing new initiatives and ideas that further empower Dana Hall students to become strong leaders and confident human beings,” said Kimball. “Through a collaborative team approach, I am confident we can use athletics, health and wellness as a springboard to substantial positive growth.”
Kimball has presented on the national and regional level on topics related to sports performance and women’s leadership, including at the National Strength and Conditioning Association Massachusetts State Clinic in April of 2017 and at the Women Leaders National Convention in 2016. She joined Wellesley after spending a year and a half as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Bates College. Prior to her appointment at Bates, Kimball had a six-year tenure as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Fitness Coordinator at Division I Southern Illinois University.
To ensure a smooth transition of leadership, Kimball will immediately begin working with Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness John Suby, who is retiring at the end of the school year and ending his 17-year tenure at Dana Hall.
Kimball holds a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Health Fitness from the University of Southern Maine and a Masters in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in strength and conditioning from Springfield College. She enjoys an active lifestyle of golfing, running and sprint triathlons, as well as a variety of recreational team sports. Kimball resides in Upton, Mass. with her spouse and two children (Olivia, 2 and Samuel, 8 weeks).
