Riding Success at Regionals

The IEA Equestrian Team had an impressive showing at Regional Finals last weekend. The Middle School team of A. Thames ’24, A. Hornblower ’25 and S. Saarony ’26 took 1st place and is headed to Zone Finals March 27-29. Individuals qualifying for Zone Finals includes G. Thames ’20, M. Essex ’23, A. Sullivan ’24 and Hornblower.
 
Both the Upper School and Middle School riders did well individually at Regionals:
 
Upper School
  • Essex placed 2nd in the Varsity Intermediate Equitation Over Fences team class and 1st in the Varsity Intermediate Equitation Over Fences individual class. She was also 3rd in the Varsity Intermediate Flat team class.
  • G. Thames placed 2nd in both the Varsity Open Equitation Over Fences team class as well as the Varsity Open Equitation Over Fences individual class.
  • L. McHugh ’21 placed 4th in the JV Novice Equitation Over Fences team class and 3rd in the JV Novice Equitation Flat team class.
  • A. Houston ’21 placed 5th in the Varsity Open Equitation Flat team class.
  • V. Ramaswamy ’23 placed 6th in the JV Beginner Equitation on the flat team class.
 
Middle School
  • Hornblower placed 1st in the Future Novice Over Fences team class and 5th in the Future Novice Flat team class. She was also 4th in the individual Future Novice Over Fences class and 2nd in the individual Future Novice Flat class.
  • A. Thames placed 1st in the Future Intermediate Flat team class and 3rd in the Future Intermediate Over Fences team class. She also was 6th in the individual Future Intermediate Over Fences class and 3rd in the individual Future Intermediate Flat class.
  • Sullivan placed 1st in the individual Future Novice Over Fences class.
  • Sarrony placed 2nd in the Future Beginner Equitation on the flat class.
