Girls learning, leading, succeeding

Taya Latham Named Varsity Ice Hockey Coach

Taya Latham has been hired as Dana Hall’s new Varsity Ice Hockey coach. She has more than 13 years of ice hockey experience at the high school level.

“Taya’s ice hockey background is a win for Dana Hall,” said Rebecca Kimball, director of Athletics, Health and Wellness. “Her knowledge of the game, leadership style and passion to recruit will make a lasting impact on the program, and we are thrilled to have her join our coaching staff.”

Latham grew up playing hockey in Edina, Minn., and has been coaching high school hockey since graduating from Williams College in 2007 where she was a four-year varsity hockey player and majored in history. Latham spent three years with the Minneapolis Novas program before moving to The Blake School.

While at Blake, she helped guide the Bears to back-to-back Minnesota Class 1A Girls State Championships in 2013 and 2014, as well as a runner-up finish in 2015. After taking a year away from coaching to earn her master’s in classical archeology, Latham moved to Boston in 2016 to become the founding coach of the girls’ hockey program at Saint Joseph Prep. Latham also coaches lacrosse and is a published fiction author.

Latham will begin coaching the Varsity Ice Hockey team this winter.

"My favorite Dana Hall memory would be the first time I ever sang the Alma Mater with my fellow classmates. That was most definitely the first time I felt like I was truly a part of something. Joining hands with my future Silver Sisters made me truly feel like I was a Dana girl."
