Samantha Roberts ’18 to Swim in Tokyo Olympics

Samantha Roberts ’18 is in Tokyo preparing for her second Olympic swimming appearance. Roberts will swim in Heat 5 of the Women’s 50m Freestyle this Friday, July 30. “I’m hoping to achieve a best time of 26 mid or lower,” Roberts said. Her career best of 27.27 seconds came at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
Roberts was prominently featured in the opening ceremonies as one of the flag bearers for Team Antigua and Barbuda. Just this year, the International Olympic Committee allowed for two flag bearers—one male and one female—from each country to further support gender equality.
She also competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 50m free, where she came in 57th with a time of 27.95 seconds. She was the youngest member of Antigua and Barbuda’s Olympic team at that time.
Catch Roberts live from the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Heat 5 of the Women’s 50m Freestyle Friday, July 30, at 6:32 a.m. EDT.

"My favorite Dana Hall memory would be the first time I ever sang the Alma Mater with my fellow classmates. That was most definitely the first time I felt like I was truly a part of something. Joining hands with my future Silver Sisters made me truly feel like I was a Dana girl."
