Dana Hall Presents Orlando

Dana Hall Presents Orlando

The Dana Hall Upper School presents its fall play, Orlando, on Friday, November 12, and Saturday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m., in Bardwell Auditorium. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Based on the Virginia Woolf novel, Orlando by Sarah Ruhl tells the story of a young nobleman who is drawn into a love affair with Queen Elizabeth I. For a time, life at court is interesting enough, but Orlando yearns for something more. As he strives to make his way as a poet and lover, his travels keep him at the heart of a dazzling tale where gender and gender preferences shift regularly, usually with hilarious results.

"This play will mark the first public performances in Bardwell since March 5, 2020," said Daniel Morris, director of Theater. "In a time where audience and performers alike are still navigating their own comfort levels associated with theater, I have had the joy of watching this talented group of actors and technicians throw themselves fully into this project. Their commitment, talent and ability to lift up those around them has been remarkable. I am excited for an audience to experience how wonderfully necessary these live performances can be bringing back a bit of normalcy in our lives."

In keeping with our current protocols on campus, all students involved in the production and audience members will be masked while in Bardwell. Student performers can elect to be unmasked while on stage; they will be masked at all other times.

Please note that Bardwell is not wheelchair accessible.
