Mike White named new Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness

Mike White will be the new Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness, beginning July 1. Currently a member of Dana Hall’s Middle School faculty and one of the School’s two athletic trainers, in his new role White will oversee all aspects of Dana Hall’s Athletics, Health and Wellness program and serve as a member of the Administrative Team.

“I have been impressed by Mike's demonstrated commitment to working thoughtfully and intentionally with students, parents and faculty, and by his knowledge of adolescent development,” said Head of School Katherine Bradley. “In many roles, both formal and informal, he models calm professionalism, deep care and an appreciation for nuance. I am confident that he will implement the School's vision for our athletic, health and wellness programs, and he will do so with optimism and good humor.”

During his 12 years as a member of the Dana Hall community, White has been a compassionate advocate for student-athletes, coaches and families. “From the day I arrived, Dana Hall has always been such a warm and welcoming community to my family and me,” said White. “I value the caring connections I have made with the students, their families, and my colleagues over the years, and I am eager to build upon this foundation in my new role. I hope I can bring this sense of community pride and spirit to my role as Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness.”

In addition to teaching 7th-grade science and supporting athletes as a trainer, White served as Interim Assistant Director of the Middle School last year. He has coached field hockey, volleyball and softball and is the Middle School Science Curriculum Coordinator. He has been a member of the Head of School Search, Senior Project and Strategic Planning committees and was a Standard Chair for the NEASC Self Study.

“I have always been inspired by seeing the arc of growth of our student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the fields/courts. Working in the Middle School, I have been fortunate to get to know some of our youngest students. Watching them progress in skill and confidence as they grow through our programs is one of the greatest joys I have found as an educator and one I look forward to having a deeper connection to in this new role.”

White holds a B.S. in Athletic Training & Physiology from Ithaca College and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from UMass — Lowell.

White was selected following an extensive search that brought multiple finalists to campus to meet with students, faculty, staff and administrators.

Throughout May and June, White will collaborate with the departing Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness Becky Kimball to ensure a smooth transition and begin preparations for the 2022-23 school year.
