Model UN Shines in the City

The Dana Hall Model UN Team traveled to New York City to compete in the annual Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition, January 15-18. During the four-day conference, students engaged in rigorous debate, and were confronted with various crises where they had to use their negotiation skills to pass directives and resolutions.

During the weekend, students also visited the Belgium Embassy where they heard from a career diplomat about the current initiatives and challenges the UN is facing. Students had the chance to ask questions about global affairs.

Seven Dana Hall delegates were honored for their work during the conference:

“The Model UN team did a wonderful job,” said Marianna Paone, Upper School Social Studies teacher and Model UN advisor. “Their meticulous preparation and research on their committee topics enabled them to be strong participants in their respective roles and rooms. In addition, the delegates’ persuasive debate and negotiation skills were also on full display during the conference. Overall, we are so proud of how each delegate represented Dana Hall.”
