Pushing the Limits on Stage

Pushing the Limits on Stage

Dana Hall dancers will hit the Bardwell Auditorium stage next week for the annual dance concert, Luminesce, running Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m.

Luminesce showcases a dynamic range of dance styles, including contemporary, modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and K-pop. The program features student choreography alongside works by Dance Faculty Mikaela Bradley, Director of Dance Devon Fitchett and guest choreographer Candace Taylor ’09. Together, the pieces highlight the depth, individuality and artistic range of the program’s dancers, while reflecting the rigor, creativity and collaborative spirit of the Dana Hall dance community.

“It was really special to be back in a space on campus that I spent so much of my time in while it was a student at Dana,” Taylor said. “The Dance Studio was a safe creative space for me that I really cherished. Coming back to work with another generation of Dana girls and still feeling the warmth, the creativity and the safety of that space was amazing. We did lots of giggling and smiling just like I did two decades ago.”

Fitchett said, “This concert represents months of sustained commitment, collaboration and artistic risk-taking. What audiences will see on stage is not just performance, but the result of a deeply engaged creative process — one that asks our dancers to push their limits, support one another and take ownership of their work in meaningful ways.”

Please note Bardwell Auditorium is not wheelchair accessible.
