Girls learning, leading, succeeding
myDANA
Dana girls are curious, collaborative, respectful and enthusiastic. They are leaders: leaders of clubs, activities, sport teams and more. They are also aware of the many types of leadership, understanding that a supporting role is just as important as taking the lead. They know that Dana Hall is a place where they can be themselves and are encouraged to be who they want to be. See what they have to say about about their school.

Favorite Dana Tradition

SPREAD

I love the excitement that surrounds this tradition as well as the bond it creates between the junior and senior classes. It excites me to know that I get to go through such a unique tradition twice.

Favorite Dana Assignment

African Studies Family Tree

I took African Studies my sophomore year and we were assigned a family tree project; however, there was variation in the family trees depending on whether we were assigned to trace our matrilineal, patrilineal or bilineal kinship. The project mimics different African societies' opinions about who is or isn't considered family. I found it interesting to see how big or small some people's families were as well as see how families were affected if half of it wasn't considered family anymore.

Favorite Dana Class

Molecular Biology

I've always enjoyed science classes; however, Molecular Biology has been particularly fun because I am genuinely interested in the material we cover in class. Also, my teacher keeps the class entertaining by using multiple analogies to explain challenging concepts. Some of the analogies are helpful while others are subpar, but we appreciate them all because they bring humor and laughter each class.

Favorite Dana Hall Activity

Dance

Dance is definitely my favorite Dana Hall activity. I always find myself in the dance studio, whether I have class that day or not. Since 9th grade, I have fallen in love with the people and the close-knit community that the dance program provides. I have also made amazing friends who I might not have met without dance bringing us together, and an inspiring mentor in my dance teacher.

Favorite Place on Campus

The Library

The Dana Hall library is honestly one of the nicest, most comfortable libraries I have ever been in. Going to the library in the middle of the day during a free always cheers me up, especially if that day has been particularly long. It provides a place for me to do work if I’m feeling diligent as well as a place to sleep or simply relax if needed. I’m definitely most relaxed on campus when I am lounging in one of the big, blue chairs the library is furnished with while listening to some music or catching up with a show on Netflix.

Favorite Dana Hall Memory

Cabaret

Cabaret is a 9th grade tradition where the entire class puts on a talent show for the rest of the community. I really wanted to perform a dance, but the thought of performing my own choreography scared me; however, with the support of my class, I was able to perform it and ended up enjoying my time onstage. I loved the support that I was given from classmates and other people in the community because it made me feel really special and confident in myself.
