Girls learning, leading, succeeding
myDANA
Dana girls are curious, collaborative, respectful and enthusiastic. They are leaders: leaders of clubs, activities, sport teams and more. They are also aware of the many types of leadership, understanding that a supporting role is just as important as taking the lead. They know that Dana Hall is a place where they can be themselves and are encouraged to be who they want to be. See what they have to say about about their school.

Favorite Dana Tradition

Cabaret

My favorite Dana tradition is Cabaret. Cabaret is a talent show that involves all ninth graders. It is a great opportunity for students to show their talent and bond with each other. My class had a great Cabaret. Rehearsals brought us closer, and the final product was amazing. I realized how talented my classmates are, and I felt lucky to have them.

Favorite Dana ASSIGNMENT

Finding Nemo Project in Western Civilization

My favorite assignment is the Finding Nemo Project in Western Civilization. Students were asked a make a presentation, which changes Finding Nemo into a Greek tragedy. My group decided to make a short film. Although it was time consuming, I learned a lot about teamwork and filmmaking, including script writing, video recording and editing. The most amazing part about this project, however, was watching others’ presentations. The Finding Nemo project was really creative, and all of my classmates came up with unique short films. It was so much fun to look at their products and learn about their innovative ideas. This project helped me to have a deeper understanding of Greek tragedy, and it made me more interested in history.

Favorite Dana Class

Draing and Painting

Drawing and Painting is my favorite class. I love visual arts, and this class definitely helped me to develop strong artistic skills. I learned charcoal sketching, woodblock printing, book making and many things I had never tried before. My art teacher is so supportive. He always encourages me to take risks, and he helped me realize that sometimes imperfection makes better art. My Drawing and Painting class gave me a chance to enjoy myself and create beauty.

Favorite Dana Hall Activity

Volleyball

Volleyball is my favorite activity at Dana Hall. When I first tried out in the fall, I did not make the team. But before I left, my coach told us a story about a former volleyball player, who failed the tryouts but still practiced with the JV team, and she ended up on Varsity volleyball two years later. I was really motivated by this story, and I wanted to do the same thing. I signed up to be a volleyball team manager, so I have time after school to practice with the JV team. I practiced volleyball everyday, and I watched all Dana's home and away games. Finally, in the second half of the season, my coaches admitted me as a JV player. It felt awesome to play for Dana, and I had made many new friends. I realized that there are many opportunities for a change, as long as I am passionate enough.

Favorite Place on Campus

Library

The library is my favorite place. The Dana library has tons of books and magazines. It is quiet, bright and comfortable. I can be really productive in the cubicles, because there are few distractions. The library is also a great place to relax. It has cozy couches, big windows and the environment is really pleasant.

Favorite Dana Hall Memory

All of them!

I don’t have one favorite memory, because everyday is different. There is always something new and exciting.
