Girls learning, leading, succeeding
myDANA
Dana girls are curious, collaborative, respectful and enthusiastic. They are leaders: leaders of clubs, activities, sport teams and more. They are also aware of the many types of leadership, understanding that a supporting role is just as important as taking the lead. They know that Dana Hall is a place where they can be themselves and are encouraged to be who they want to be. See what they have to say about about their school.

FAVORITE DANA TRADITION

Harbor Cruise

My favorite Dana Hall tradition is by far the Harbor Cruise; getting together with the entire school on the boat is the best way to begin the academic year. I look forward to the food, music, and laughter that comes from it every year. Coming here in eighth grade, I was still very shy and insecure in the Dana Hall community, and the Harbor Cruise allowed me to bond with girls who are now my very best friends. In addition, I have never tasted better clam chowder in my life!

Favorite Dana Assignment

Othello Newscast

In my English class this year we read Othello, and were asked to make a news clip to demonstrate our understanding on how the media can manipulate events or information in order to appeal to a certain group. My partner and I dressed in elaborate costumes, used realistic props, and spoke in newscaster-like dialogue to convince the audience that our point of view was correct. I love creative assignments like these, because they allow me to use my imagination and be creative.

Favorite Dana Class

Middle Eastern Studies

Middle Eastern Studies is my favorite class this year because it mixes both ancient history and current events together. Learning about a part of the world that is so controversial and relevant to modern politics has been very interesting for me, and I have come out of the class knowing so much more about the area than I did before.

My Favorite Dana Hall Activity

Model United Nations (UN) Team

The Model United Nations club at Dana has been my all time favorite, because it mixes politics, problem solving and teamwork together into one activity. Since joining the team, I have learned so much about how international issues are resolved, and I enjoy working with other students from all over the nation in addition to bonding with my fellow teammates.

Favorite Place on Campus

Saliba Courtyard

Saliba Courtyard is my favorite place on campus. During the warmer months of the year, I love to go and sit in the grass and chat with my friends and do homework. It is a beautiful area on the campus, and the combination of the sun and shade make it the perfect spot.

Favorite Dana Hall Memory

Overcoming Injury

In the fall of my sophomore year, I suffered an ACL tear while playing soccer, and had to undergo surgery during Thanksgiving break. This was a difficult time for me, because I was so unused to moving around in a wheelchair. However, on my first day back, all of my friends came out and helped push me to my classes and carried my belongings, and reminded me of how lucky I was to be a part of the Dana Hall community.
