Girls learning, leading, succeeding
myDANA
Dana girls are curious, collaborative, respectful and enthusiastic. They are leaders: leaders of clubs, activities, sport teams and more. They are also aware of the many types of leadership, understanding that a supporting role is just as important as taking the lead. They know that Dana Hall is a place where they can be themselves and are encouraged to be who they want to be. See what they have to say about about their school.

FAVORITE DANA TRADITION

Cabaret

Cabaret is my favorite Dana Hall tradition. I was a little shy at the beginning of the school year, Cabaret was the first tradition that gave me the opportunity to meet new friends and perform with them. Now I have a lot of friends, and I realized I got to know many of them during Cabaret. Cabaret also gave me the feeling that the Class of 2020 is a big family.

Favorite Dana Assignment

Julius Caesar creative writing assignment

In Literature & Composition I Class, we had a creative writing assignment about the play Julius Caesar. We had to imagine that we were Roman reporters, and we were going to report on the terrible night before the assassination of Julius Caesar. This was my favorite assignment because it gave me the opportunity to develop my imagination. I am very happy that my teacher always gives us these types of assignments. Also, by writing this essay, I learned how to write a newspaper report, a new format for me.

Favorite Dana Class

Physics

Physics is my favorite class at Dana Hall. I like to do experiments and work on a team. In Physics 9, we conducted many experiments, and we also did a micro essay, group presentation and group project. I really enjoy working with my classmates. Moreover, I like my physics teacher so much. She is very nice, interesting and patient. When I have questions, or troubles with my studies, she will help me with them patiently until I completely understand them.

My Favorite Dana Hall Activity

Basketball

JV II Basketball was my favorite Dana Hall activity. It was my first time playing basketball and joining in a team sport. At first, I could not play very well, and I felt very nervous. However, in both practice and during games, my teammates never criticized me when I lost the ball. When we finished our practice or game, our coach would always encourage me and say: “Evelyn I give you A+ for your performance.”

Favorite Place on Campus

library

My favorite place in Dana Hall is the library. There are a lot of books that I can read and find sources for my essays. There are conference rooms that I can enjoy a quiet space to talk with friends. Also, there are very comfortable and soft sofas in the library.

Favorite Dana Hall Memory

Parents’ Weekend

During Parents’ Weekend, my parents were not able to come. My advisor, Ms. Kent, told me that she would be my “parent,” and come to my class. My host parents went to my class and stood in for my parents. My friends and roommate also introduced me to their parents and offered to take me out for food. This was the first time that I felt that Dana Hall is a big family, and we are all together. And this became my favorite Dana memory.
