Girls learning, leading, succeeding
myDANA
Dana girls are curious, collaborative, respectful and enthusiastic. They are leaders: leaders of clubs, activities, sport teams and more. They are also aware of the many types of leadership, understanding that a supporting role is just as important as taking the lead. They know that Dana Hall is a place where they can be themselves and are encouraged to be who they want to be. See what they have to say about about their school.

FAVORITE DANA TRADITION

Harbor Cruise

Harbor Cruise is my favorite Dana Hall tradition because it's a fun way to celebrate the start of a new school year. All of the Dana hall community attends this event, which is full of food, dancing and catching up. This event is typically held the first few days we arrive back to campus, so there is a lot of excitement because the students are still getting to know each other or reuniting after the summer. I love seeing all the amazing outfits my classmates choose to wear, and taking pictures with everyone. Harbor Cruise is always a blast!

Favorite Dana Assignment

dangerous word essay

My favorite Dana Hall assignment is my dangerous word essay for my AP English Language and Composition class. For this assignment I had to choose a word that is considered derogatory, and had to research the term’s history, current use or anything else that I found interesting. We then had to decide the future use of the term from what we learned during our research. I really enjoyed this project because the term we chose was completely our own decision, which made this assignment very enjoyable because we were genuinely interested in the term we researched. This assignment allowed me to be very creative in my writing, thinking and research process.

Favorite Dana Class

Spanish

I really enjoy taking Spanish classes at Dana because the teachers are extremely passionate about the language they teach. Learning Spanish at Dana Hall is not simply memorizing conjunction and phrases, but also learning about the culture and history of the language. Spanish classes at Dana Hall are very interactive classes, where I'm always having discussions with my classmates in Spanish. Most language classes also hold exchange programs, which allows for the students to visit places such as France and Spain, and be immersed in the language and culture.

My Favorite Dana Hall Activity

Dorm proctor

One of my favorite Dana Hall activities I have been apart of is the proctor team. I have always been devoted to the dorm because it is such a special place, where girls from all around the world are living together, and are able to create long-lasting friendships. This proctor team is dedicated to ensuring that boarding life can be the best it can. We voice the opinions of boarding students, whether they are negative or positive, so that we can ensure that the girls are comfortable and enjoying their time while at Dana Hall. This team is also a support system in the dorm, where we help with dorm meetings and answer any questions for the boarding students. We help create a warm and welcoming dorm for all Dana hall students.

Favorite Place on Campus

Erisman Student Center

My favorite place on campus is the Erisman Student Center, which also includes the Dining Hall. The Dining Hall serves a great variety of food and is always coming up with new combinations and meals. There are often activities held in the Student Center such as movie nights and meetings with other schools.

Favorite Dana Hall Memory

orientation

My favorite Dana Hall memory is orientation because it's a fresh start to the new school year. I look forward to catching up with my friends after spending the summer away. I enjoy getting to meet all the new Dana hall students, and helping them with their process into the Dana community. Orientation is always an exciting time that is full of activities and great food. The weather is really warm during orientation, so we are able to do a lot of outside activities that help with grade and school bonding.
