During the summer, the Karen Stives '68 Equestrian Center instructors offer an intensive and educational summer program.
Riders develop their skills under saddle as well as participate in hands-on horsemanship workshops. The program focuses on hunt-seat equitation and emphasizes safety, learning control, correct position and developing confidence at beginning through advanced levels. Each rider experiences a classroom without boundaries that inspires discipline, responsibility and teamwork. Hands on activities and demonstrations enable riders to explore all aspects of horsemanship and discover the secrets of the equine mind.
The KSEC Summer Program offers two-week sessions. During a two-week session, riders lesson once per day for one-hour each, participate in horsemanship workshops in the barn as well as enjoy lunch on the barn patio before going home for the day. Each session is open to riders whose ability ranges from beginner through advanced with small group sizes to give the best possible instruction. The KSEC Summer program is open to riders ages 8-15 years old.
Riders are responsible for bringing an ASTM certified helmet, hard soled boots, riding pants, water bottle, snack and lunch.
