Margaret Wise Brown '28 was a best-selling American children's book author. Brown wrote many books throughout her life, but her most notable books include: Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny, and Big Red Barn. Her books have been translated into several languages. Brown's fondness for animals can be seen in her stories, as well as her ear for rhythm and rhyme.

After Dana, Brown graduated from Hollins College and the Bank Street College of Education. Brown passed away on November 13, 1952 in France at the age of 42.
