Equestrian Team Rides to Victory This Fall

It was a great day of riding at the Karen Stives ’68 Equestrian Center as Dana Hall hosted five schools at the IEA Horse Show on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Middle School team won the champion ribbon and the Upper School team placed second out of six teams with a reserve champion ribbon.

Junior J. Hayre-Perez ’17 won the sportsmanship award for the day. F. Novicki ’18 was the high point rider of the day with a first place ribbon over the jumps and a third on the flat in the open division. E. Toomey ’20 won both her classes over the jumps and on the flat in the 2’ division, while G. Thames ’20 placed first over the jumps and second on the flat in the cross bar division.

Dana Hall had numerous wins in the beginner flat classes, with M. Wirkala ’19 winning her flat, and Middle School riders E. Carney ’21 and A. Rapp ’21 placing first and second on the flat. M. Rippert ’17 placed second on the flat in the Upper School cross bar division as well as E. Coen ’16 in the 2’ division. L. Earley ’19 placed second over the jumps and first on the flat in the Upper School 2’ division. M. Decker ’17 and C. Wahlberg ’17 also placed first and second on the flat in the 2’ division.

Not only did the team do well at its last show but it has had a run of success throughout the fall.

"My favorite Dana Hall memory would be the first time I ever sang the Alma Mater with my fellow classmates. That was most definitely the first time I felt like I was truly a part of something. Joining hands with my future Silver Sisters made me truly feel like I was a Dana girl."
