Dana Coach to Run Boston Marathon for Special Cause

On Wednesday, April 5, CBS Boston spotlighted Dana’s Admission Counselor and Athletics Coach Graham Masiiwa. Masiiwa is running the Boston Marathon and raising money for Flying Kites, a Boston-based charity and school in Ruran, Kenya. Flying Kites provides education, meals and housing opportunities to Kenyan children in need.
Seventeen years ago, Masiiwa moved to the United States from Zimbabwe. As a child in Zimbabwe, he experienced first hand the struggle to afford an education. Now he feels fortunate to be able to provide schooling for deserving children in Kenya.
“You know you’re running for something bigger than yourself,” said Masiiwa in the story. “Every mile that I’m running — painful or not painful –I know that there’s someone who is going to smile at the end of the day.”

"I love playing basketball at Dana. Our team is really like a family, and we’ve grown so much over the three years I’ve been on the team. My freshman year I never would have thought that we would be able to win the EIL league, but this past winter we did! What makes the team so great is how we look out for each other on and off the court. My teammates are my biggest supporters and it’s always great when we get to welcome new members onto the team. I can’t wait to be captain next year."
