Girls learning, leading, succeeding

New Director of Enrollment Management and Marketing

Dana Hall School welcomes Angela Brown as the new Director of Enrollment Management and Marketing. Most recently the Director of Admission at the Pike School in Andover, Mass., Brown will officially join the Dana community on August 1. Reporting to Head of School Katherine L. Bradley, Brown will serve as a member of the Administrative Team and will oversee all aspects of enrollment, admission and financial aid, including strategic communications and marketing.

“Angela brings a breadth of experience in enrollment management, but what struck me in my conversations with her is Angela’s deep thinking about education and the role of schools,” said Bradley. “She doesn’t focus only on filling a school, but also on what the purpose and mission of a school is. This philosophical underpinning to her work is exciting, and Dana will benefit from it.”

Brown, who describes herself as a blend of a big picture thinker and detail-oriented organizer, is excited to contribute to Dana’s mission and school culture. “I am committed to the empowerment of young women, so I am thrilled for the opportunity to join a community that focuses all its energy, knowledge and resources to educate and inspire girls,” she said. “During my visits to campus, I was struck by the warmth of the faculty and staff members I met, their dedication to the academic and personal growth of each student, and their sincere desire to create a culturally competent community where all students feel welcomed and connected.”

She continued, “I was also impressed by the students I met. They shared fascinating testimonies of how they first learned of Dana, creative examples of the ways in which teachers challenge them each day, and favorite Dana traditions that foster an inseparable bond between students. Their passion for Dana Hall was palpable!”

Prior to her time at Pike, Brown was Director of Admission at The Urban School in San Francisco, were she was responsible for designing and implementing all strategies, programs, publications and events related to the enrollment of new students. Throughout her career, she has implemented several special marketing and recruitment programs in order to increase the quality, size and diversity of schools’ applicant pools.

Understanding and embracing the new realities of independent school enrollment management and marketing requires a leadership team like Dana’s, one that is visionary, strategic and courageous,” Brown noted. “I am honored to join such a thoughtful and experienced leadership team, and I am excited to partner with current families, faculty, staff and alumnae to share Dana’s unique story both in the U.S. and abroad.”

Brown was the Director of Diversity Development at Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tenn. and began her career as an Associate Director of Admissions at St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H. She is well known in the independent school arena and has designed and facilitated numerous admission and marketing workshops for national conferences.

Brown is passionate about how individuals and organizations learn and change, and she completed graduate studies in organizational leadership at Vanderbilt University, earning a Master of Education degree. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College and is a graduate of Phillips Academy Andover.

Brown was selected through a national search in consultancy with the executive search firm Witt/Kieffer. “I am grateful to the members of the search committee – Rob Mather, who led the group, along with Liza Cohen, John Doll, Michele Gerdes, Nia Hays, Kristin Ryan and Lindsay White,” said Bradley. "They willingly and generously gave careful thought and spent enormous time on this process in addition to all their regular duties.”

Brown will relocate to Wellesley this summer and will live on campus.

"I love playing basketball at Dana. Our team is really like a family, and we’ve grown so much over the three years I’ve been on the team. My freshman year I never would have thought that we would be able to win the EIL league, but this past winter we did! What makes the team so great is how we look out for each other on and off the court. My teammates are my biggest supporters and it’s always great when we get to welcome new members onto the team. I can’t wait to be captain next year."
