Girls learning, leading, succeeding

Parents' Association

The purpose of the Dana Hall Parents’ Association is to advance, through parent involvement, the stated mission and core values of Dana Hall School. Every parent and guardian of a Dana Hall student is automatically a member of the Parents' Association.
On behalf of the Dana Hall Parents’ Association (PA), I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19
school year! Every Parent and Guardian of a Dana Hall student is automatically a member of the
PA – that means YOU! The PA hosts meetings and special events throughout the school year and we
encourage you to attend whenever you can. It’s a great way to engage with your fellow Dana Hall
parents and to learn more about our daughters’ wonderful school.

This is an exciting year at Dana Hall. We welcome our new Head of Middle School, Dr. Lauren
Goldberg as well as our new Director of Diversity, Ms. Erica Ramirez. The renovation of the Johnston
Dorms continues and the interior of Bardwell Auditorium has new floors and seats, thanks to the
generosity of the Parents of the Class of 2018.

The first week of school at Dana Hall is FULL of events for parents and students. New Upper School
Boarding students arrive at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 2, with registration for both new and
returning students on Monday, September 3rd, at varying times throughout the day. Upper School
families are invited to attend a New Family Picnic on Monday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Please visit
DanaConnect for a detailed schedule. The first full day of classes is Tuesday, September 4th,
followed later in the week by traditions such as class retreats and the Harbor Cruise.

Mark your calendars!

Want to learn all about the Dana Hall Parents’ Association and other school events, and see what
opportunities lie ahead in the 2018-19 year? SAVE THE DATE for our Welcome Back to School Coffee,
on Tuesday, September 11th at 8:00 a.m. in Beveridge Hall.

This is the first of 3 PA coffees, held once a trimester, and September’s topic is “PA 101 – All You
Want to Know about the PA”. Faculty and staff will also be available to answer questions and
members of the PA Leadership will be there to talk about events and volunteer opportunities.
Attending the coffees is a great way to learn more about the Dana Hall community and mingle with
new and old friends.

Additionally, our first community-wide event will be Amor Caritas Day on Saturday, September 15.
This day of community service is open to all students, alumnae, parents, faculty, and staff. More
information will be forthcoming.

Finally, please mark your calendars for Dana Hall’s Family Weekend on Friday, October 26 to
Saturday, October 27. The weekend’s activities will include opportunities to attend classes with
your daughters as well as watch sporting events and theater and chorus performances. Mark your
calendars now and watch for more detailed schedules and opportunities to get involved!

I hope you will all join us on Tuesday, September 11 at 8 a.m. in Beveridge Hall for an introduction
to the PA, our fabulous leadership team, and this year’s events. I look forward to getting to know you
and to working together to make Dana Hall an even more incredible place. In the meantime, enjoy
these last days of summer and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!

All the best,

Jennifer Houston P21, 24

"My favorite class at Dana Hall (so far!) has been Middle Eastern Studies. It covers interesting material that helps me to better understand current events, and provides me a unique perspective when so much of formal history education is focused on the West. The class has helped me break stereotypes, and I now view the world differently."
